WIRELESS NEWS: Motorola and Nokia could be Qualcomm customers

By Daily Wireless Updates, Power by Cogni360

Daily Wireless News & Updates.- Qualcomm could be the benefactor of substantial business in light of some interesting developments in the industry. A research note from Caris & Company indicates Qualcomm could become the chip supplier for the latest generation of Motorola's HSDPA phones because Freescale Semiconductor, the spinoff from Motorola, can't make chips that are thin enough to accommodate its ultra-thin phones. Qualcomm could also get a boost from the planned JV between Nokia and Sanyo since Nokia, which has long stood steadfast in making its own chipsets, indicated it wouldn't be opposed to using chipsets from Qualcomm. Sanyo already uses Qualcomm chipsets. Qualcomm's stock was up slightly this morning. For more telecom news go to: Telecommunicate and Daily WiFi News.
