WIRELESS NEWS: China pushes for TD-SCDMA

By Daily Wireless Updates, Power by Cogni360

Daily Wireless News & Updates.- In a move to give China's homegrown TD-SCDMA standard a head start, China's telecom regulators have ordered the country's operators to stop work on WCDMA trial networks. Apparently that doesn't mean WCDMA will be shut out, but regulators will likely issue TD-SCDMA licenses first to allow these licensees to mature the TD-SCDMA standard and follow later with a WCDMA license. Interestingly, the WCDMA trial networks can't even sit dormant until then. Regulators want them dismantled. For more telecom news go to: Telecommunicate and Daily WiFi News.
